The field in the foreground has had wheat harvested, then it has been tilled but not deep ploughed. The buildings beyond the field are Manor Farm, on the edge of this square. Beyond is East Codford Down. The viewpoint is at about 170 metres above sea level, the downs opposite about the same, and the intervening valley about 80 metres, so this is rolling countryside rather than hills.
