Village green at Overhill from Station Road

The bungalows at Overhill were built in 1954 on the site of the old Square Yard, a cluster of terraced houses east of the Swan Inn, which were demolished. The green now occupies the site of the original village green upon which the stocks stood prior to the Square Yard being built. The Methodist Church on Towne Gate is to the left of the telegraph pole. The photo attempts to duplicate an old one shown here http://heddonhistory.weebly.com/blog/heddon-old-village
