In the foreground is the recently unveiled statue of Gracie Fields Image In the background is Rochdale General Post Office. The grand Georgian post office was designed by the Post Office's own architect Charles P. Wilkinson and opened in 1927. The post office relocated to the old Woolworths in Yorkshire Street in the mid 1990s but moved back to its historic home in 2005. Most of the building is however used as offices.
