Grade II Listed 17th century house with 18th and 19th century alterations. One occupant was Cuthbert Edward Bradley (1861-1941) who married Lucy Elizabeth Heathcote (1862-1939) in September 1895, probably when he moved to The Lodge as in the 1891 census he lives with his mother at the 'Elms'. A Christmas card from the Bradley family at The Lodge survives from 1910. Cuthbert's son Rifleman John Henry Heathcote Bradley is included in the roll of Honour having been in the 7th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment, he died on 21st November 1918, aged 19 years. Cuthbert was a self-taught artist and illustrator particularly noted for his hounds. He was also a sporting journalist for The Field and other publications, and an author. He contributed six cartoons to ‘Vanity Fair’.
