Starting from Buxton and climbing to the source of the River Dane at Dane Head, the route then follows the river down to Middlewich. The river Dane is just to the left of shot but invisible through the dense hawthorn woodland. Here we are a mile east of Holmes Chapel, approaching a stile where the path descends onto water meadows.
