Granite plaque to the left of the door of the Category C listed Burgh Chambers (James MCGuire Building). The plaque reads: In Memory of Hugh Martin 1850-1904 and Janet Martin 1852-1933 Natives of Barrhead This tablet is erected and the 'Hugh and Janet Martin Memorial Fund' was established by Hugh Martin and Janet Martin of Barrhead and of Worcester Massachusetts United States of America The fund is still in existence, and in March 2016 stood at just over £19,700.
