Granite plaque to the left of the door of the Category C listed Burgh Chambers (James MCGuire Building). The plaque reads: In Loving Remembrance of Janet Hamilton Martin a native of Barrhead 1831-1892 This tablet is erected and the 'Janet Hamilton Memorial Fund' for the relief of the sick of the town of Barrhead was bequeathed by her children Hugh Martin and Janet Martin of Barrhead and of Worcester Massachusetts United States of America The fund is still in existence, and in March 2016 stood at just over £56,000.
