Saqib Butt (Inspector)

I’m Inspector Saqib Butt, and I’m thrilled to be your neighbourhood policing manager for the Outer Sector of Walsall. I’m here to tell you a bit about myself and what I hope to achieve in our community.

I’ve been part of the policing world for over two decades now, starting my journey back in 2003 at Birmingham’s Stechford Police Station. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving in various roles, including time with the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) and Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU). But what really gets me going every morning is neighbourhood policing.

I’m passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives and the places they call home. That’s why I’m so excited to be leading the charge in Aldridge, Brownhills, Streetly, Darlaston, and Willenhall. These areas are filled with vibrant communities, and I’m determined to build strong relationships with each and every one of you.

One thing you’ll quickly learn about me is that I’m all about communication and collaboration. I firmly believe that by working together, we can tackle any challenge that comes our way. Whether it’s addressing residential burglary, vehicle crime, youth violence, or anti-social behaviour, we’re in this together.

My amazing team of officers and I are here to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and act where needed. We want to hear from you, whether it’s at community meetings, local events, or just out on the street. Your input is invaluable in shaping the way we police our neighbourhoods.

To keep you in the loop, my officers regularly share updates using X and WMNow. And if you ever need to report an issue or just want to chat, you can reach out to us via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101.

Together, let’s make our communities safer, stronger, and more united than ever before. I can’t wait to meet you all and get started on this journey together!

Priorities

17 Oct 2024

Tackling Business & Retail Crime across the Blakenall and Birchills Leamore Area

Response (17 Oct 2024)

The team are working closely with retailers in relation to crime committed within their stores. We are carrying out mobile and foot patrols in vulnerable locations including areas such as Reedswood Retail Park. On the 21/10/2024 the neighbourhood team apprehended a shoplifter on Reedswood Retail Park who was taken into custody.

We are also working with local retailers to improve systems for obtaining CCTV more efficiently, this ensures we can identify those committing offences at the earliest opportunity.

We will also be visiting shops and businesses to drop off leaflets encouraging them to register their CCTV and doorbell cameras with us.

17 Oct 2024

Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour across the area

Response (17 Oct 2024)

We have been working hard to identify and take action against those individuals responsible for causing ASB. We have been visiting locations where we are aware of incidents of ASB.

Our officers are also using public transport as part of their patrol strategy, ensuring we deter anyone intent on causing ASB on local buses in the area and reassuring people using the travel network who can speak to us if they have any concerns.

We are linking in on a regular basis with partners including Walsall Council and National Express West Midlands and look to obtain evidence such as CCTV to identify and take appropriate action against those responsible.

We have already identified a number of young people who have been spoken in relation to ASB

17 Oct 2024

Response (17 Oct 2024)

As part of our Darker Nights campaign we will be increasing our messaging to our communities and raising awareness of essential crime prevention advice in relation to prevention of burglaries, vehicles crime and ASB in the run up to Halloween and Bonfire Night.
