The Frome Society for Local Study plaque http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3986297 on the North Parade house wall records that this building was formerly the Champneys Arms Inn and London coach office. It was built in 1739 by William Bailey, joiner, under lease from Richard Champneys of Orchardleigh.
