This structure is clearly a doocot, and it dates from the 16th century, but unusually for a doocot it contains remnants of a chimney. It is marked on the map as 'Plague Kiln' because it is said to have been used to incinerate the clothing and belongings of victims of the plague during the epidemic in 1645.
