The new PubChurch venture was launched in January 2017 and is described as being the result of two years’ prayer and waiting for guidance on the way forward. It is headed by a team from All Saints Church, under the leadership of Pioneer Ordinand, Rachel Foster. "This is an exciting opportunity to take the gospel into the community" says Robert Parsonage, Rector of Poringland Benefice, who will be overseeing the new initiative. The Royal Oak has been a pub since 1836, when it was run by George Worman. The Spirit licence was transferred from the Three Tuns in Broome in 1939. On 8 May 1942 the building was damaged by enemy action.
