This end of the site is an enterprise park with the historic pit head buildings beyond. Wandering much further is likely to get you shouted at by security. This is the largest surviving colliery complex in the country and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument but lack of maintenance and anno domini are taking their toll. It is hoped the historic elements can be saved but it will be a gargantuan undertaking.
