Taken at the time. England vs Australia in a rain affected game although this the first day was a scorcher. Australia elected to bat. Alan Igglesden and John Stephenson made their Test debuts for England. Number 5 was Dean Jones who went on to score 122 the next day. Number 4 was Allan Border, the captain who eventually made 76. The match ended in a draw with Australia winning the best of six 1989 Ashes series 4–0. Australia 1st innings 468 off 132.3 overs. England 1st innings 285 off 91.1 overs David Gower 76. Australia 2nd innings 219/4d (63 overs) England 2nd innings 143/5 (46.1 overs) The ground has altered considerably since this was taken. See also Image]
