An orchard belonging to a cider farm seems to have had too many pippins to deal with this season. So many left on the ground gave the frosty air a slightly fermented aroma. However, the cacophony of cackles and squawkings of a large flock of birds from the lower slopes suggested the produce was not going to waste.
