Designed by local architect Charles Ferguson for Edwin Hodge Banks and opened in 1878, the Skinburness Hotel closed in 2006 and has been vacant since. The original part of the hotel is to the centre and right in this view, with later 20th Century additions to left. As the Marine Hotel, it was under State ownership from 1916 to 1973. The site has expired planning approval for demolition and construction of a nursing home, but there seems little interest in the property and its future is uncertain. Some May 2015 photographs of the hotel interior may be seen: https://www.28dayslater.co.uk/skinburness-hotel-cumbria-may-15.t96183 See also: Image], Image], Image], Image] and Image Photograph is for record only - I have no connection with any party dealing with the sale of this property and cannot advise on their products or services.
