Whenever I see a pile of bricks like this I am reminded of the famous sculpture 'Equivalent VIII' by Carl Andre that was first displayed in the Tate Gallery in 1966. The picture shows two new, and presumably ephemeral, stacks at the junction of Balcombe Green and Long Lane and illustrates the variety of colours textures and other features shown in a pile of supposedly identical things.
