The Coach Road and the Western Bypass

Two very different roads on the west side of the Team Valley in Gateshead. The old Coach Road gets its name because it was the carriage route to Ravensworth Castle, and dates from the early C19, or perhaps even earlier. Gateshead Western Bypass was opened in 1976 and runs parallel to the old road down the length of the valley.
