The large building here, which has now been converted into a dwelling, has the appearance of a warehouse. The buildings here appear on signposts and old 6" maps as [Old] Chemical Works, and from information supplied by the national park authority it appears that naptha was produced from coal tar. It is also likely that charcoal was produced here or in the vicinity, both ingredients for gunpowder which would have been in demand at the naval base at pembroke Dock.
