"A good medium-sized red-brick mansion of c 1600. The garden [far] side has four straight gables, the entrance side two projecting gabled wings and two square cross-gabled projections in the re-entrant angles. The windows are altered, but indications of moulded windows remain" (Nikolaus Pevsner).
