South of Commercial Street, the combined cycleway and footpath here follows the route of the former Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal, which in Cwmbran is fragmentary. There is a canal fragment out of shot ahead. National Cycle Network Route 49 extends from the town of Abergavenny in Monmouthshire in the north to the city of Newport in the south.
