During week-ends in September and October 2016, the East Coast Main Line was closed north of Newcastle for engineering works. Accordingly, Virgin Trains East Coast (VTEC) services diverted over Newcastle - Carlisle, adding somewhat to journey times to/from Edinburgh and King's Cross. While most trains were in the hands of HST sets, DB Schenker liveried 67015 did make an appearance - seen passing Durranhill Sidings with train 1E07, the 08.24 passenger service from Edinburgh to King's Cross.
