Opened in February 1859 as the Albion Hotel/Tavern, it became a State Managed pub in August 1916. Closed in October 1916 for extensive Harry Redfern designed renovations (which included incorporation of the Deakin's Vaults pub), it reopened on 7 June 1917. Sold to the John Smiths Brewing Group on 7 May 1973 and renamed "The Border Rambler" in 1992/3, it remains in business.
