The A6055 north of motorway junction 51 with traffic visible on the as yet unfinished section of A1[M] north of Leeming Bar. The A6055 didn't exist some 45 years ago, but at some point in the early 1970's the B6166 between Knaresborough and Boroughbridge was upgraded to A6055. Fast forward nearly 40 years and the same road number appears again, but this time running parallel to the upgraded A1[M] from junction 50 at Baldersby to J51 at Leeming [note the gap between Boroughbridge and J50]. Now it is being extended even further north, but will it end at Catterick or at Scotch Corner?
