The blue plaque http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5058970 on the Church Street building records that the Savoy occupies what has been called the oldest theatre site in Wales, dating from Elizabethan times. In 1927 the building was restored and opened as The New Picture House. The first talking picture shown here was in 1930.
