Dedicated to 'All Comrades' who served here during World War II. The airfield was initially used by RAF bombers, then by the USA air force for troop transport (playing an important role in parachute drops during D-Day), and later reverting to the RAF. Derequisitioned in 1955, the airfield now serves the Buckminster Gliding Club.
