Opened in 1890 to serve the rapidly developing settlement of Partridge Green which by then had become the most populous in the parish helped by the arrival of the railway in 1861. The church is still a chapelry of St George's in West Grinstead. Built in a field known as Limekiln Field, according to West Grinstead's 1841 tithe map.
