This monument to Sir Walter Scott sits at the end of St John Street in Galashiels. The bronze bust and tablet were both designed by Thomas Clapperton in 1932. The inscription on the stone pedestal is: O GREAT AND GALLANT SCOTT The inscription on the curved coping stones is: THE LAST OF ALL THE BARDS WAS HE WHO SUNG OF BORDER CHIVALRY
