PCSOs provide a visible, accessible and approachable uniformed presence in the community, using designated powers where needed, deterring and preventing crime, and tackling antisocial behaviour.
They are problem solvers and work with partners, where needed, to address local issues.
The Neighbourhood Inspector has overall responsibility for the entire neighbourhood policing team of Sergeants, Police Constables, PCSOs and police staff.
They are responsible for delivering on neighbourhood policing strategies, directing the deployment of the team and developing relationships with partners and key stakeholders, to enable the neighbourhood policing team to work effectively.

| 1 Aug 2025 | Anti-social behaviour (ASB) •Priority for June - August •Priority for September - November Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings. Working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB. Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes. Response (18 Aug 2025)ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER Further community meetings planned for coming months in areas of reported ASB, with ward officers committing to additional patrols in areas reported by residents. End of August meeting in Motcombe, residents raised issues with youngsters trespassing at the swimming pool and noisy motorcycles around Old Town at night, local officers will look to address these raised issues in the coming months, and adjust patrols accordingly to provide presence in reported areas to act as a deterrent and identify those involved. ASB driving/EScooter use has been a reported issue in the area and raised at previous community meetings, as such ward officers for the area are looking into days of action to target ASB driving including the use of EScooters, and will use powers of seizure in the area to help tackle your concerns. ACTIONS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY JUNE – AUGUST Officers for your ward continue to conduct daily patrols of your area following an increase of youth related ASB over the Summer holidays. In addition to recent patrols, ward officers have also held meetings with local residents, one being at the allotments where groups of unknown youngsters have been gaining access and causing ASB and damage. As a result of the meeting officers now have a key to the allotments so that the grounds can be covered during the patrols to identify and deter induvial from entering unlawfully and causing ASB, we hope that these actions will offer some respite to local residents in the area. |
