It consists of two 18th century cottages made into one building. One of the cottages was owned by a carpenter who had a workshop at the back and this gave rise to the name. It opened as a pub in 1822 being a Morrells (of Oxford) house. Today it is owned by New Wood Inns. It has a games room with a pool table. Currently the beers come from Marston's. The passage to the left of the pub leads to its car park. Image Image
