In 1874 George Kirkpatrick, then landlord of the King's Head from where he operated the Denton Omnibus Company, bought the Bowling Green Hotel on Manchester Road and moved there, taking his omnibus business with him, leaving his son, Robert, as the landlord of the King's Head. In 1983 the name of the Bowling Green Inn was changed to Denton Tramway in acknowledgement of George Kirkpatrick's Denton Omnibus Company. An omnibus left the Bowling Green Inn for Manchester at 8:00am, 10:00am, 1:10pm, 3:10pm, 4:45pm and 6:40pm. http://www.pittdixon.go-plus.net/denton/kings-head.htm Later it reverted to the name "Bowling Green" but in 2010 was renamed "Hughes's Bar" Image After becoming involved with a murder in 2015 it closed for a time but has now re-opened under its former name.
