According to Bournemouth Borough Council's definitive map, there should be a public footpath to Hyde Road starting just about here. There is very faint evidence of a route having been available here but it can hardly be described as walkable. A possible reason is that a parallel path, number E48, running about 20 yards to the north according to the map, is actually more like 10 yards adrift from this route - so perhaps this one has simply become overgrown through underuse, as the 'middle' path has taken on the function of both. See Image for more discussion on the discrepancy on E48 (and links to more photos of it), and Image for a wider view including the spot we are looking at now. Two further photos along the supposed course of path E51 will be found here: Image (far end) Image (mid point)
