This is the waste transfer station for Calvert Landfill Site which currently occupies an area of 106 hectares to the west of the station, off camera to the left, and which is run by the Waste Recycling Group for the Department of the Environment. Waste container trains come from Bath, Bristol and London, see Image, and here the containers are loaded onto lorries waiting on the road alongside the trains. The lorries then take the waste to the landfill site to be tipped, see Image
