Located on the corner of Horsham Road, number 138 is in the foreground on the corner whilst 140 is actually on Horsham Road. The former dates from the medieval period and was refaced in the 18th century whilst the latter was an extension added in the 19th century. For a long period of time this was an inn called The George which is first mentioned in records towards the end of the 18th century and closed in 1958.
