John Newman in Pevsner's The Buildings of England: North East and East Kent is enthusiastic about St Lawrence Church - "Pleasing outside and in, for restoration has always been a matter of bits and pieces." There is Norman evidence in the windows and the tower is thought to be early. The only post-Norman addition is a north chapel.
