Once a common feature, most have now disappeared. Here there are two generations still in evidence, although long since disused. The brass-fronted posting slot is now almost equally uncommon, many having disappeared with the split of Post Office and Royal Mail functions. Here it survived because the local sorting office continues (at the time of writing) to use the premises.
