Telford's Warehouse and Diocesan House, Chester

On the left is Telford's Warehouse, seen here from Chester City Walls. It was built by Thomas Telford and was constructed partly over the Shropshire Union Canal to allow boats to be loaded and unloaded from the full height of the loading bay within the building. On the right is Diocesan House. Originally built as Ellesmere Canal Company Offices and canal tavern, it later became Tarvin Rural District Council Offices then Chester Diocesan Offices. The front office section was probably built in the 1790's, the rear part which was once the tavern around 1815.
