Handley Memorial, South Gate

Grade II Listed 1850 memorial in the form of 'Eleanor Cross' by architect William Boyle of Birmingham. Completed in 1852 as 'Handley Testimonial' the Sleaford townspeople had raised £942 by subscription to fund its building. Henry Handley was born in Sleaford in 1797 and died in 1846; he was a Member of Parliament for the Southern Division of Lincolnshire between 1832 and 1841.
