The pub is named after a former railway bridge which crossed the road hard up against the pub. The bridge was demolished in 1976, the railway closed in 1962. Unfortunately 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' never used the route, particularly in preservation guise bearing a central flashing headlamp. An earlier inn sign was no better, showing a green locomotive and green coaches on a former Midland Railway line, with a bridge of high narrow arches, the actual bridge had a rather flat wide arch over the road - Image
