Whitecote House, centre, built in 1744. To the left of the house is Maltings Cottage, and to the right, the Malthouse. Whitecote House is built in stone on three storeys and has a circular, central window in the gable. In 1872 it was inhabited by schoolmaster, Mr. William Gibbins and later by the Westcott family. Mr. Samuel Westcott, a colliery agent, was listed on the 1881 Census at Whitecote House with his wife and seven children.
