The 30mph speed limit along Wavell Drive drops to 20mph on the approach to Malpas Park Primary School. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4858689 A Department of Transport document states that 20mph zones are predominantly used in urban areas, both town centres and residential areas, and in the vicinity of schools. They should also be used around shops, markets, playgrounds and other areas with high pedestrian or cyclist traffic, though they should not include roads where vehicle movement is the primary function. It is generally recommended that they are imposed over an area consisting of several roads.
