Situated just off Lever Park Avenue, the stone memorial carries a plaque on one side which reads: "IN TREASURED REMEMBRANCE OF THE MEN OF HORWICH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES DURING THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918" Another plaque on the opposite face reads: "THIS GARDEN OF REMEMBRANCE IS DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN AND WOMEN OF HORWICH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939 - 1945 THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE" (see Image])
