At the top of the hill is St Mary's church; following down the hill is the historic George Inn, an old coaching inn and Grade II listed. It is believed to have originally been built in the mid fifteenth century, with much more of it added in Georgian times. Local tales have it that Judge Jeffreys held Court in the room above the lower bar. Outside the George is a traditional K6 telephone kiosk. The latter is also listed and is the only one of its type in the village. The modern Indian restaurant now occupies part of the old George premises.
