Military Auxiliary Hospital in Shifnal

Once known as Hildern House, but now simply 15 Shrewsbury Road, this cottage served as a convalescent home and Auxiliary Hospital after WWI, looking after injured servicemen. It opened as a hospital in March 1917, with 15 beds. A legacy of poems and sketches by some of the residents is now kept in the local museum, housed in the former Fire Station a few doors along the road in the Image, which has been refurbished since that particular photo was taken.
