The Chester Canal Lock at the River Dee

The Chester Canal was originally opened in 1779 linking Nantwich with the River Dee https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chester_Canal The lock gates at the river edge have long since collapsed so that at high tides like this the Dee enters and then leaves the lock. The water is retained in the canal basin by lock gates on the opposite side of New Crane Street.
