This view is looking N from near the shop and little triangular 'square'. The house on the right is called Island House, built 16C to 17C and altered in the 19C (The Buildings of Wales) and the 1" map of 1952 shows a chapel there, which was later demolished to make way for the public conveniences. Next are some cottages and the entrance to the castle, then the fine pink-washed Georgian house (Castle House) on the corner, round which the tower of the Town Hall can just be seen.
