During the Second World War, this pillbox > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4744170 used to guard the Chain Home radar station at nearby Stoke Holy Cross. It is situated on a 60 metres high ridge in a crop field south of Caistor Lane, with good views in all directions.
