Shown in Image and Image This was St John's Parochial School, built in 1850. "The fine roof has a diaper pattern of black tiles with red and brown tiles between" http://www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1282066 and reminds me of roofs in Burgundy. "Tudor Gothic Revival style ... A vigorous design with good townscape value".
