On Stockport Road, Denton. In the 19th century, the Licensees of the Jolly Hatters had a family connection with Lees Broadbent who was a hat manufacturer a few doors away at Nos. 51 to 57 Stockport Road Image The Licensees were William Broadbent and afterwards his son, James Broadbent. Slater's Trade Directory for 1903 listed Stephen Shaw as the Publican and for a while an association of hatters' unions had offices on the premises where they shared facilities. http://www.pittdixon.go-plus.net/denton/jolly-hatters.htm In recent years it was a Hydes Brewery pub Image but by October 2013 had closed down Image In March 2014 it re-opened as a freehouse called The Full Shilling Image but by December Image it had closed and the old inn sign for the Jolly Hatters had been rehung. Now it is home to Little Learners, a day nursery previously based at St Lawrence Church Hall on Town Lane.
