1GL bolt & benchmark - Sandwell, former gatehouse

A 1st Geodetic Levelling bolt and benchmark at the base of the one-time entrance to Sandwell Hall, now a Grade II listed structure. The bolt was levelled at 166.771m above Ordnance Datum Newlyn, and is almost certain to be Mark 306 on the Manchester to Gloucester levelling line, at which time it was held to be 554ft 5in above Ordnance Datum Liverpool.
