Longthorpe Tower

Longthorpe Tower was built by Robert Thorpe, a lawyer, between about 1290 and 1300. Towers like this are rare in southern England, they tend to more common in the north, particular on the border with Scotland. On the first floor the tower contains some of the finest medieval wall painting to be found in the country, they date from around 1330. The building is in the care of English Heretiage.
